Our Throwback Thursday posts have been a fantastic way to reconnect with our roots, and we are absolutely thrilled with the response they’ve received! Over the yearss, we’ve shared some incredible photos from Bourne Vale Stables’ history, and the outpouring of memories, stories, and photos from riders, staff, and friends from years gone by has been fantastic.

A Walk Down Memory Lane

From images of Pat Cooper (née Long) riding Clarence in 1968 to photos of the outdoor school and even advertisements from 1979, these glimpses into the past have sparked nostalgia and conversation across generations.

One of the most exciting outcomes has been hearing from former riders and staff who’ve shared their own recollections of their time at Bourne Vale. Stories of first lessons, unforgettable horses, and even long-forgotten friendships have filled our comments and messages. It’s been wonderful to see how the stables have touched so many lives over the decades.

Memories That Span Generations

Some of the highlights from our Throwback Thursday interactions include:

  • Former riders sharing photos of their favourite horses and the memories they made in our outdoor school or at Pony Club events.
  • Past staff recalling their days teaching lessons, mucking out, and forming lifelong friendships.
  • Families reminiscing about summer holiday courses and activities from as far back as the 1970s.

We’ve even had people who rode here as children now bringing their own children to experience the magic of Bourne Vale—proof of the genuine connection so many have with the riding school.

Keeping the Legacy Alive

These posts have reminded us why we’re so proud of our history and community. Bourne Vale Stables is more than just a riding school; it’s a place where memories are made, friendships are forged, and a love for horses is passed down through generations.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to interact with our Throwback Thursday posts, share your stories, and dig through your old photo albums to keep our history alive. Your engagement means the world to us, and it’s incredible to see how many of you feel connected to Bourne Vale’s journey.
